Lake Roosevelt is a sun drenched jewel, an undiscovered natural wonderland! Visitors enjoy flat calm crystal clear water, secluded inlets and bays, pristine sandy beaches, abundant wildlife, stunning scenery, wondrous starry starry nights, and solitude. The "river" as it is called by locals is one of the largest man-made lakes in our nation. It contains 9 million acre feet of Columbia River water, stretches 150 miles from Grand Coulee Dam to the Canadian border, and offers over 630 miles of shoreline to explore. Water sports enthusiasts love the uncrowded beaches and campgrounds, the flat water (glass) all day long, and appreciate the warm water (70's in July and August). Fishermen troll along rocky cliffs hoping to hook one of the 30 species of fish which live in the lake. Snorkelers paddle around rocky outcroppings admiring the occasional fish, sometimes being startled by coming nose-to-nose with a huge carp! Lakeside campers thrill to early evening visits by unafraid deer in search of cool clear water for themselves and their fawns. |
